The 10+1 rowing races in Vienna and Bratislava this weekend set off the DANUBE CONNECTION. STORY & GLORY sports events.
The latest addition to the Patzaikin watercraft collection, “canotca 10+1”, will start her maiden voyage on Saturday, during the Vienna rowing international trials. The next day, on the 8th of July, the competition will continue with Bratislava trials and on July 14th the third trials will take place in Budapest. The final event will be hosted by the International Rowing Boats festival Rowmania, scheduled for 31 August – 2 September at Tulcea (Romania).
“Sports international competitions are definitely more fun and everybody enjoys a good race when they are competing under their national colours. This is why I feel particularly grateful to our friends at ICR to have assisted us in including the Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest events in this year’s agenda of events. We will have a full summer, accompanying the DANUBE CONNECTION. STORY & GLORY project along the Danube. Although the Delta will always hold a special place in my heart, I embrace Danube’s quality of offering so many different perspectives: tourism, sport, arts, all-around culture. Our efforts aim to allowing Delta’s nature and its people to shine, and to conveying the universal message that nature can be enjoyed without spoiling it” said Ivan Patzaichin before leaving for Vienna.
“Canotca” is a new type of rowing boat, with unique design, created by Romanian woodworking craftsmen. It is a tourist modern boat that carries on the tradition of Danube Delta’s fishermen boats, combining it with the maneuverability of modern fast canoes. The two-seats canotca was designed and launched in 2011, while the 11 seats version will make its first public appearance in Vienna.
